For my genre I will do a personal narrative. I am interested in doing a personal narrative because I get to talk about myself and my experiences and I am very interested in talking about my first semester in college including my experience in CARE. In this project I will go in depth about my experience so far at Florida State including the pros and cons. Also being in CARE has helped my transition into college be fairly smooth. Being a first generation college student can be a scary transition and one may not know how to cope with it or what to expect. I expect that doing this project may be tedious due to having to explain my entire experience over the course of six weeks into only 600 words. Also having to cite MLA format instead of APA may be a rough transition since that is all I am used to, finding sources to support my personal narrative and having to compose everything to make it flow smoothly may take up the majority of my time but a personal narrative is the only narrative that I feel that I can relate to and it is a genre I will enjoy doing. I have written something similar to a personal narrative for academic reasons so it is not new to me but it will be on a completely different time period in my life than I am used to.
