As a composer I feel that it is my obligation to always put my all into my work the first time around and turn in polished work at all times which is why based on the feedback I received I did not go in and revise my work much because the comments were all revolved around how polished my work was, the only revisions I made was on my interview. I went into my project 2.2 and took out some of the things my interviewee said, he had great thorough responses but parts of them were unnecessary or did not relate to the question asked or were not helpful for me achieve my composing goals. Besides the small revision I made no other revisions to my work because the comments I received back from my instructor and peer review have caused me to be confident in the work that I have turned in and I have full confidence that all of the work submitted on my E- portfolio is polished and is up to standards for anyone to look at and enjoy. I would be willing to make revisions to my E- portfolio if I received any feedback about my work being unpolished or unorganized but from the conferences with my instructor and peer workshop with my classmates I felt and still feel no need to do so. I learned that there is an endless amount of genres to choose from and compose, I would have never thought that an Instagram page could be considered a genre. A genre is whatever you make of it and is an endless variety of things. I also learned how to reach my composing goals through an interview that was required in this class, without doing the interview that was required of me I would not have known how to reach my composing goals of being a better planner, doing the interview also taught me that in order to grow and gain more resources you must branch out and not be afraid to speak out first. The biggest and most important thing that I have learned from being in this class is how to be more confident in my work, I have always been a strong reader and writer but I lacked the confidence to show others my work from fear of judgement but writing on a daily basis and getting positive feedback from my peers and instructor has caused a significant boost in my confidence and encouraged me to show my work to others because my doubts and apprehensions were from insecurities that I should not have. Being in ENC 1101 has taught me lessons that I can use now and in the future such as, MLA citation, how to analyze everything around me and what kind of genre composition it may be and who the target audience may be because everything from Instagram pages, YouTube videos, blogs, powerpoints, etc are their own genre composition and target audience. Future lessons I will also take away from this class is being able to do research on my own, with the responsibility of having to find a person to interview and have to come up with questions to ask in order to get my questions answered that will help me reach my composing goals gave me the skills needed to do my own research in the future. Also being in ENC 1101 and having to write journals and reflections have taught me that in the future it is good to sit back and reflect on an assignment that I have done so that I can internalize what I have done and do not forget what I have learned. Journals have helped me log my thoughts on assignments and critically think about what I plan to do for an assignment before I begin, doing journals have caused me to be better prepared for the assignment that I am about to begin and improves the quality of my work. Since the semester has started my ideas on writing has changed because I knew there was creative writing but other than that I thought writing was restricted and limited to only words on paper, I did not know that it could be expanded as broad as it is. Over the course of the three projects we have completed project two was my best because I feel that it is my most polished piece of work, I spent a substantial amount of time on the assignment because I wanted to make sure I had no errors being that it was an interview and I needed to make sure that I got everything that my interviewee said was correct and that I had no grammatical errors being that I had to transcribe everything he said. I also think it is my best project because it was the project that held most of my interest and because of this interest I paid more attention to the details that went into completing it. My worst project would be project three because I have very little experience in writing a personal narrative and honestly did not know where to begin when writing. I did some research on how to write and begin a personal narrative which helped but I strongly feel that if I had experience with writing a personal narrative my project would have been up to par with my other projects such as project two. I also feel that I may have rushed my personal narrative due to procrastination and that due to my own laziness it is not as polished as my other work. If I had another week to revise I would completely rewrite my project three personal narrative because I think I can do a better job of writing. I would also do more background research on how to write a personal narrative and what makes a polished personal narrative. I would also improve my reflections and further elaborate on some of the statements that I have made because looking back I realize that they are broad but can be elaborated on so that the reader can understand and relate to it.
